Golden Retriever are a medium to large sized family favorite. They are well known for their golden lustrous coat, their abilities in field work, instinctual hunting, as assistance dogs and in search and rescue. They are a family friendly breed and are very intelligent which makes them enjoy learning and training. Golden Retrievers are playful, trustworthy and loving.
They enjoy playing fetch and swimming along with lounging around in the sun and cuddles.
The Golden Retriever is equally at home as a beloved companion, a guide dog for the blind, an agility or retrieving trial competitor, a show dog or a therapy dog. The Goldens desire to please is legendary, making the breed excel as an obedience competitor, an assistance dog, or working search and rescue. Goldens are noted for their loving disposition and are an excellent breed for families with children.
Suitability
Golden Retriever enjoy out door play, active lifestyle and a re playful from puppies though h to adulthood.
Access to regular exercise and fun environments where they can run or swim would be an ideal outing for a Golden Retriever. Small living spaces for this medium to large breed would not be ideal.

Coat
The Golden Retriever has a lustrous golden coat, and comes in different shades of gold, from dark golden to light golden. The GR coat is of medium length, and will require moderate grooming.
Their lovely golden coat is a moderate to high level of shedding, but with regular grooming this is manageable.
